Peter Knapp

Chairman of the Jury of the 3rd “Grand Prix Européen de la Ville de Vevey”.
Peter Knapp studied graphic arts at the School of Industrial Art & Design in Zurich. He was Artistic Director and fashion photographer for “Elle” magazine and fashion photographer for Courrèges for 20 years. His work has appeared in “Stern”, “Vogue”, “The Sunday Times” and “Marie Claire”. He has also compiled photographic reports, designed theatre sets and, between 1965 and 1968, put together some forty or so film documentaries for the television programme Dim Dam Dom.

An artist and photographer, Peter Knapp switches from videocams, to cameras, watercolours, Indian ink and numerical technologies with the utmost of ease.

3rd “Grand Prix Européen de la Ville de Vevey”
An exhibition of the works of the eleven photographers nominated for the 3rd Grand Prix which carries with it EUR 20,000 to carry out the winning project. Comprising over a hundred images, the exhibition will permit visitors to discover new trends and budding talents in European photographic creation today

Bogdan Konopka
Born in Dynow, Poland, in 1953, Bogdan Konopka attended the Wroclaw Photographic Section of the Warsaw Cinema School from 1978 to 1981. Currently living in France, he won the “Grand Prix Européen de la Ville de Vevey” in 1998. The award enabled him to carry out his project “Reconnaissances” on which he started work in Paris and other European cities. It forms the basis of this exhibition

Pornography or erotic art:
Trends in contemporary photography

The aim of this international conference is to take a look at the history and current state of photographic production from the standpoint of those who sometimes accuse it of being pornographic. Participants include professors, researchers, students, artists, advertising executives, journalists and other specialists concerned by the ethic, aesthetic and legal issues raised.

Under the general theme “Rôles inversés” (inverted roles), the workshops of the 3rd Images’ Festival will set out to discover the very latest trends in photography. They will permit the young photographic creators, responsible for animating them, to present their work.
