Avec Mr. Schuhlmann or the Man in the High Castle, Matthieu Lavanchy s’intéresse à la banalisation de la violence. Tout un chacun a pris l'habitude d'être assailli par les terribles images véhiculées par les médias et l'industrie du divertissement. À la lumière de cette observation, le photographe a imaginé le personnage de Mr. Schuhlmann: un homme dont l'état d'urgence intérieur affecte sa vie entière. Drolatique et tourmentée, cette fiction photographique est une excellente matière à réflexion.

With Mr. Schuhlmann or the Man in the High Castle, Matthieu Lavanchy explores the trivialization of violence. Everyone has become used to being  bombarded by violent and dramatic images from the mass media and the entertainment industry. In light of this observation, the photographer imagined the character of Mr. Schuhlmann: a man whose inner state of emergency affects his whole life. Funny and tormented, this fiction is excellent material to reflect on.
