In this series, Gohar Dashti presents photographs describing the complex relationship between every day reality and psychic experiences. She shows ordinary moments in the life of a couple living through a war with, as a backdrop, a tank, a bunker or barbed wire. Even though the subjects do not really express any emotion, one can read in their attitude a sense of perseverance, determination and willpower. Dashti thus also gives us a different outlook on modern day Iran, a far cry from the pictures that are often published by the media.
