ECAL / Philippe Fragnière

Philippe Fragnière was born in 1987 in the Valais Alps in Switzerland. In 2008, he went to the ECAL/University of Art and Design in Lausanne where he graduated with a BA in Photography in 2012. For his end of course project, he returned to the snowparks that he frequented in his adolescence with an artistic perspective. The Valais artist scanned these sporting events and highlighted the aesthetic relationship between these layouts and the Alpine landscape like certain land art installations. By proposing his work at a former skateboard ramp site in Vevey, Festival Images reverses the path devised by the artist by placing the Snowpark series in the town, facing the mountains.
