Joana Hadjithomas et Khalil Joreige

Le cercle de confusion

For fifteen years, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige (born in 1969) have jointly developed a work combining cinema and visual art. Le cercle de confusion is an aerial view of Beirut divided into 3000 pieces attached to a large mirror. Each visitor can take away a numbered fragment of the piece on the reverse of which is written: ‘Beirut does not exist.’ The work, like the city, is constantly changing. For Festival Images and thanks to an unprecedented collaboration, the work by Hadjithomas and Joreige may be viewed at the Théâtre de Vidy in Lausanne.

A Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne and Festival Images (Vevey) coproduction.
