America by Car
Born in 1934 in the United States, Lee Friedlander is a legendary figure in American photography. Suffering from osteoarthritis, it is difficult for him to move. However he crossed his country by car for America by Car. The outstanding feature of this series lies in his way of documenting this journey while sitting in his vehicle. In the purest road trip tradition dear to Jack Kerouac and Robert Frank, the car continues to be a part of the American Dream and exploring the huge variety of landscapes that this country has to offer. Festival Images presents this series in large format on the façade of Holdigaz, along the main road passing through Vevey.
