Olivier Culmann (born in 1970) has been a member of the French photographers’ collective Tendance Floue since 1996. He has taken part in many exhibitions and publications in France and abroad. In his last series called The Others he humorously examines societal codes in India. He endeavours to visually transcribe the variety of elements forming this country’s identity: religion, caste, profession, etc. His series consists of five phases assembled for the first time during Festival Images. This creates a visual journey through one of the most compartmentalized and prolific societies in the world.
