Hans Op de Beeck lives in Brussels. His work consists of sculptures, installations, videos, photographs, animated films, news and paintings. He uses both a minimalist language and  exaggerated forms, always in a will to be specific. For ten years, Hans Op de Beeck has been focusing on our problematic relationship with time and space. It shows moments of everyday life, in order to capture the absurd nature of our postmodern existences.


ROOM

With "Room", Hans Op de Beeck looks at the time when a person goes into a state of mental absence. This series of images is closer to painting than to photograph, because each of these interiors emerged from the imagination of the artist, and has been fully implemented in the computer. The composition refers to the Flemish, making use of a central perspective, with a single evanescent point. Each character has now the same calm and introspective gaze, another allusion to the Masters of painting. The artificial nature of the setting is never denied. This series also refers to films, to the "film noir", for the use in black / white of an almost panoramic horizontal format.

In 2009, Hans Op de Beeck participated to the 7th Vevey International Photography Award organised by the Festival Images.
