Icons

At a time when digital technologies make it possible to tamper with images in many ways, Jojakim Cortis and Adrian Sonderegger created models of famous photographs. They immortalized the result by enlarging the frame of the image to deliberately expose the details of their process: glue sticks, cutters, brushes, drills and lighting. On scaffolding that recalls the devices set-up by the duo in the studio, the Icons series, recipient of the Broncolor Prize – Light from the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2015/2016, called into question the power of the photographic medium and the veracity of images that are now part of our collective memory.
