Albert Latour Prize at Théâtre de Vidy – Augustin RebetezThéâtre de Vidy
To celebrate the memory of Alfred Latour, the Alfred Latour Foundation, in collaboration with Actes Sud, decided in 2018 to launch a prize every two years to honour an artist whose universe and modes of expression extend the exploratory fields in at least two of Latour’s disciplines: painting, engraving, drawing, photography, textile design and typographic ornaments.
The purpose of the Alfred Latour Prize is to enable the winner to carry out an original project that will culminate in the publication of a book in French. The prize rewards the subtlety, quality, originality and innovation of a project that focuses on the link between artistic expression and the book object, and on the way an artist thinks about the translation of his or her art on this medium.
In June 2019, the jury for the Alfred Latour Prize – composed of Anne-Sylvie Bameule, president, director of the fields of art, nature and society, Actes Sud; Miquel Barceló, painter, draftsman, sculptor and ceramist; François Hébel, director of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation; Werner Jeker, graphic designer, and Christian Lacroix, great couturier, designer and costume designer – unanimously awarded the first Alfred Latour prize to Augustin Rebetez for his work Le cœur entre les dents (Manifeste primitif).
The presentation will be followed by a signature and an aperitif.
