Rendez-vous at 5pm at the Espace Indiana to take part in a round-table discussion about the history of tuberculosis and Swiss people in Egypt!
Snack offered by the talented cooker Tatiana Tagli.

Several themes related to the exhibition La Maison des vivants, parallel exhibition no48 by Céline Burnand, at the Festival Images Vevey will be discussed :

*Vincent Barras, Director of the Institute of Medicine in Lausanne will talk about what tuberculosis meant at the beginning of the 20th century and the means deployed to counter it.

*Nadia Radwan, Assistant Professor of World History of Art at the Institut für Kunstgeschichte in Bern will discuss the context of Egypt in the 1920s and 30s in relation to the project for a national “Renaissance” (Nahda) and modernisation set up under Fouad I.

*Leïla El-Wakil, architect and art historian at the University of Geneva, will discuss the importance of Swiss people in the context of hotel and spa business in Egypt through the example of Charles Baehler who found himself at the head of a real estate empire.

*Estelle Sohier, lecturer and researcher at the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Geneva, will present photographs of Frédéric Boissonnas in Egypt.
