Ludovic BallandSwitzerland (1973)
Day After Reading
From 1 September to 20 December 2016, Ludovic Balland will roam the United States to produce a series of portraits and interviews with American citizens in the context of the presidential election. His travels will take him through some 20 cities where he will question their inhabitants, asking them to remember information gathered from the previous day’s newspapers. By connecting the portraits of readers to quote excerpts from their interviews, Balland’s work demonstrates the significance of one’s socio-cultural background on the way information is consumed and processed. This immersive project is exhibited in the form of posters displayed in real time according to Balland’s movements in New York, Philadelphia and Detroit.
