Stefano Stoll presents Sara Cwynar and Beni Bischof at the Discovery Award of the Rencontres d’Arles

Stefano Stoll, director of the Festival Images Vevey, is invited par the Rencontres d’Arles to nominate two photographers for the the Discovery Award, along four other figures of the art world. He presents the work of two artists working with reappropriation.

Beni Bischof (Switzerland, 1976) paints, draws, sculpts, makes installations, takes photographs and creates all things between. He runs his own magazine, titled “LaserMagazin”. In June 2016, has opened a single-show at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

Sara Cwynar (Canada, 1985) Sara Cwynar’s composite photographs of found objects and images court feelings of time passing. Using studio sets, collage, and re-photography, she produces intricate tableaux that draw from magazine advertisements, postcards, or catalogs. Cwynar is interested in how design and popular images work on our psyches, in how their visual strategies infiltrate our consciousness.

The votes are open during the first week of the Rencontres d’Arles. The winner is awarded 25’000 euros by the LUMA Foundation to continue his ou her work.
