Eden
Combining photographs and audiovisual content, Anush Hamzehian and Vittorio Mortarotti documented the overwhelming tensions and precarious situation of the village of Agarak in southern Armenia, the only crossing point to Iran. Awarded the Leica Prize – Reportage by the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2015/2016, their Eden series and the associated publication dealt with the burdening consequences of war and exile on the individual by evoking the disenchantment of lost paradise: migrants leaving Iran in their quest for freedom, women forced into prostitution or teenagers dreaming of better days.
