Let’s Play

Swiss visual artists, architects and designers agreed to take part in an unusual portrait shooting, the brainchild of Christiane Nill and Lionel Henriod (Switzerland, 1978). Each participant was given the same box of 270 wood blocks and had 30 minutes to create any shape with them, the only rule being that they had to include three pieces chosen by the former player. The Let’s Play series was presented in the form of diptychs in the gardens of the Swiss Museum of Games, and revealed the extent to which the aesthetic of the players’ compositions reflected the formal language they developed in their own artistic practices.
