Untitled Film Still #21
Untitled Film Still #21
Created between 1977 and 1980, the famous Untitled Film Stills series by Cindy Sherman is composed of 69 self-portraits in which the artist incarnates fictional heroines from B-movies as a means to question the multiple female stereotypes produced by the Hollywood film industry. Presented on one of Vevey’s largest facades, Untitled Film Still #21 is among the most famous photographs of the second half of the 20th century. Viewers could not miss the over 500-m2 image by this icon of contemporary art, featuring a woman astray in a city and thus resonating with the urban environment.
