Away

Corinne Vionnet selects pictures from advertisements found on travel agency websites, and then isolates and enlarges a detail in these seaside landscapes. Once printed, she pricks the blue areas with microscopic holes. The resulting myriad of empty dots recalls the printing raster as well as the punched cards used to program and store digital information. Featured for the first time at Festival Images, the Away series explored the potential of the medium and subtly underlined the gap between the reality of mass tourism and the dream holidays sold by tour operators.
