La Chute
La Chute
Following the riots that broke out in the French suburbs in 2005, Denis Darzacq created a series of images with hip-hop and capoeira dancers. His La Chute series mirrors an intractable social situation by staging agile bodies floating weightless, frozen against the backdrop of rigid urban landscapes void of horizon. Displayed high-up on facades of buildings, these young people seemed to play with laws of gravity while inviting viewers to question the place of the individual in a modern city.
