Juveniles in Prisons

Fernando Moleres has been documenting human rights for over twenty years and chose to photograph children imprisoned in Sierra Leone in West Africa. After a devastating civil war, many orphans were left to fend for themselves on the streets, and many ended up wasting away in prisons, year after year, living in unhealthy conditions where sexual abuse and malnutrition are common practice. Awarded the Leica Prize – Reportage by the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2011/2012, the powerful documentary style of the Juveniles in Prisons series describes the climate of violence in these overcrowded prisons.
