Quantified Landscape

Florian Amoser presented ongoing research he initiated while studying at ECAL/ Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne. To render his photographic transposition of space on a plane surface, he mapped out the reliefs of caves in Switzerland by slowly scanning their inner walls with a motorized laser propped on his tripod. Displayed facing the lake, his Quantified Landscape series represented underground landscapes and their strange contour lines, offering a form of augmented photography that echoed the analog practice as much as the digital rendition of tridimensional modelling.
