For Festival Images, Frédéric Cordier conceived an on-site monumental wallpaper in direct reference to the etymology of the word ‘photography’: writing with light. To do this, he used his scanner as a capture device and his desk lamp as a light source, varying its intensity over 2500 times. Placed on the walls of the train station’s waiting room and near the harbor, two key entrance points to the town, his minimalistic form of photography was an invitation to question the proper essence of the medium while widening the scope of possibilities digital technologies offer both now and in the future.
