Biennale Images Vevey
2008
For over 20 years, Gilbert Garcin has been the main model in his photo-montages filled with self-derision. First, the photographer visualizes a scenario; then he makes a self-portrait that he meticulously cuts out. Finally, he builds small models with matchsticks, strings or Meccano pieces in which he inserts his own figure and photographs the result. Displayed between the pillars of an old covered market in Vevey, the images reproduced in life size were an invitation to step inside their poetic and surreal stories full of references to the history of photography.
