101 Packshots

The 101 Packshots series presents the personal collection of cheap perfumes that the undisputed master of pack shots Guido Mocafico collated over the course of a quarter century from discount shops in the Belleville district of Paris. The photographer shot the bottles, their evocative names and suggestive shapes, with the same meticulous care he applied to prestigious brands. Exhibited on the facade of Vevey’s biggest mall, he paid a quirky tribute to his work for the luxury industry by wittily showing the ubiquity of leading brands in a uniform and ever more mercantile society.

Blaschka

Moved by the beauty of glass models of marine invertebrates the Blaschka family created between 1863 and 1939, Guido Mocafico traveled Europe to photograph these refined and delicate objects. During Festival Images, the Blaschka installation brought these creatures of the sea back to an aquatic environment for the very first underwater photography exhibition. Visitors could either opt for an analog immersion and actually snorkel three meters deep to view the still lifes anchored to the bottom of Lake Geneva, or for a digital immersion and stay dry thanks to new virtual reality technology.
