Vernissage du Point de vue n°80

For his viewpoint openings, Jean-Daniel Berclaz determined a spot deemed significant in a given context and photographed the panorama both behind and in front of him. The two images composed the recto and verso of his invitation card. In Vevey, he stood by the lake and captured the Grammont mountain, as well as the concrete verso facing this idyllic landscape. For his Vernissage du Point de vue n°80, the performance artist invited viewers to a form of ready-made lakeside banquet, actually in the water. Participating guests were thus at the heart of his work and encouraged to take a different view of the majestic peak, a feature so familiar it could sometimes go unnoticed.
