Around the World in Eighty Minutes
During a visit to the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, Joachim Schmid challenged himself to perform an express world tour in 80 minutes and 80 selfies. Caught up in his own game, he crossed the five continents, hurriedly taking a picture of himself in front of as many national pavilions as possible. Exhibited in the Vevey train station, the Around the World in Eighty Minutes series wittily highlighted the obsolete nature of these fairs at a time when modern modes of transport allow anyone to travel and discover the world with unprecedented speed.
