Julie Sorrel presented Les Baigneurs et Le Lierre, two installations playing with the modes of representation of reality and exploring new ways to use photography. Laid outdoors on the lawn by a luxury hotel’s swimming pool, her images of nameless vacationers sunbathing on colorful towels alienate the reality of the venue usually reserved for the privileged few. In the same vein, her climbing plant, made up of hundreds of snapshots of ivy printed on Post-its, creates an illusion of nature on the bare walls of a disused department store.
