An absolute legend in American photography, Lee Friedlander suffers from arthrosis and has difficulty moving. For the America by Car series, he nonetheless set out to drive across the United States, a journey he immortalized from within his vehicle, using the point of view to play with the frame, integrating the landscape reflected in the outside rearview mirror. Revisiting the genre of the photographic road trip celebrated by Robert Frank or Ed Ruscha, his images were exhibited in large format along Vevey’s main road. One of them measured 500 m2.
