Ewa & Piotr
Ewa & Piotr
While living in Krakow, Lorenzo Castore often saw an old eccentric woman on the streets and managed to get to know her. Ewa and her brother Piotr lived together in a small decrepit apartment. Alcoholics, secluded from the outside world, living without gas, electricity or hot water, they let themselves be photographed in the privacy of their home and gradually revealed fragments of their opulent past. Exhibited in an abandoned middle-class apartment, the series of over 150 images mixed the Italian photographer’s images with Ewa and Piotr’s personal archives, thus opposing the destitution of the siblings’ present condition to the golden age of their brilliantly comfortable youth.
