The town’s covered market square, a popular meeting place for local second hand dealers, saw Matt Lipps give a second life to archival images from the iconic LIFE Magazine. He cuts them out, groups them and displays them on shelves before photographing them against colorful backdrops. Objects, animals or human faces compile a visual ency-clopedia of over forty years of the history of press photography in the United States. In a tribute to the analog process, the Library series addresses the future of the medium from the perspective of the radical changes generated by widespread digital use.
