Floating Logos & The Untitled
Floating Logos & The Untitled
For Floating Logos, Matt Siber digitally erased the poles and framework of the huge billboards that clutter the roads of the American Midwest, leaving these logos floating in air to emphasize their plastic scope. In his other series, The Untitled, the artist removed all textual elements from urban landscapes. He then placed the decon-textualized letters on a white background to reveal the mass of information confronting passers-by every day. Presented outdoors on Vevey’s busiest square, the two series question the ubiquity of advertising and signage in the public sphere.
