BYE BYE
In his BYE BYE series, Michael Schirner appropriates the heavily mediatized icons of the photodocumentary genre. Whether it is the capture of Iwo Jima in 1945 or the last appearance of Lady Diana in 1997, he erased the main subject that would make the picture identifiable at first glance. Following a chronological sequence, the large-format prints reactivate viewers’ photographic memory and force them to pay attention to the entire composition of these images, now part of the collective memory.
