Vues de Tohoku
Vues de Tohoku
Five years after the Fukushima events, the Views of Tohoku installation by Michel Huneault physically places viewers at the heart of the natural disaster to evoke the deep trauma the Japanese people endured. On an eight-meter diameter structure, two composite panoramas, each 25-meters long, evoked in 360 degrees the consequences of the 11 March 2011 earthquake in Tohoku province. The outside of the structure showed the seafront of the coastal town of Ishinomaki, while the inside revealed the devastated landscape after the tsunami, where new constructions are already underway.
