Beatle in the Box

By 2050, the Earth will have close to 10 billion inhabitants and as many mouths to feed. Experts agree on the fact that insects are an efficient alternative to sustain the needs of the world population while preserving the environment. Michela Benaglia and Emanuela Colombo (Italy, 1974) joined forces with a chef and a biologist to conceive and photograph surprisingly appetizing dishes, with insects as ingredients. Exhibited in the garden of the Alimentarium, the Beatle in the Box series familiarized visitors with an eating pattern still uncommon in Europe, when over two billion people elsewhere already eat insects every day.
