Tree
Myoung Ho Lee photographs trees – pines, willows or simple bushes – as he would human subjects in the studio, stretching large white backdrops behind them. Disassociated from their natural environment, the subjects of the Tree series blur the notion of scale, thus questioning the construction of the image in photography. For Festival Images, the pictures were displayed in various formats, including a 60-m2 photograph amid trees, as a life-size mise en abyme of the South Korean artist’s monumental work.
