Miroir aux alouettes
Olivier Lovey creates large in situ installations, toying with the notion of trompe l’œil by blending reality and its photographic double. For Festival Images, he conceived a tailor-made surreal image outdoors on the portico that once marked the entrance to Vevey. Like a mise en abyme, Miroir aux alouettes addresses photography’s limitations to reproduce reality by encouraging viewers to look differently at a familiar structure for local residents. This installation followed artwork the Valais photographer presented a few months earlier in the Vevey train station, featuring a spectacular wave about to shatter the building’s glass doors.
