Pachi Santiago

Pachi Santiago spent several years disturbingly reproducing emblematic photographs of Claudia Schiffer, mimicking the style and attitude of his muse. Part fascination, part obsession, the photographer’s incarnation of the fashion icon blurs the boundaries of gender. Premiering in Switzerland, coinciding with Schiffer’s 30 years as a model, the work fuels reflection about the construction of self-image through media-fabricated idols. Exhibited outdoors, the Copying Claudia series was printed on large structures blending the silhouettes of the model and of the artist, as well as on shiny Plexiglas recalling the glossy pages of fashion magazines.
