Philippe Fragnière

For his final assignment at ECAL/Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne, Philippe Fragnière formalized a photographic project on snow parks, bringing to light the aesthetic relationship between such sports facilities and the surrounding mountains. His snowy landscapes were presented facing the French Alps, on structural elements shaped like modules of snow parks, conceived in collaboration with Bachelor students in Industrial Design at ECAL. Exhibited in Vevey on a site where a skate ramp was still standing the previous year, the installation played with the contrasts between asphalt and snow, town and mountain, summer and winter. The project also featured in Snowpark, a book co-published by Images Vevey.
