Radicalia

For Radicalia, Piero Martinello traveled through Italy searching for men and women who have adopted radical ways of living on the fringes of conventions and norms: village idiots, devout individuals, Mafiosi gangs, cloistered nuns or ecstatic ravers. In this abundant gallery of portraits, the photographic medium is manifest both in its artistic form and its vernacular use. With a deliberately disparate hanging mixing a variety of framings, the installation at Espace Images reactivated the imagery of Italian folklore, thus reconnecting these outsiders with the community.
