The Lady Vanishes
The Lady Vanishes
Inspired from a scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lady Vanishes (1938), Rodney Graham pictured a mysterious character with slightly different hands hiding behind a spread of The Sunday Sun Vancouver newspaper dated 1937, the year the movie was made. The conceptual artist translates the drollery of the Hitchcockian sequence with colorful staging of a single photograph. Reproduced on the facade of the Hôtel des Trois Couronnes, the monumental 110-m2 image echoed both the film set, a hotel, and the quaint charm of the historical Vevey palace.
