Inspired by art history’s classical figure of the dreamy or melancholic female subject, Stefan Habermann collects Internet images of naked young women that he then superimposes to create pieces filled with a strange atmosphere. Awarded the Special Jury Prize by the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2007/2008, his In dreams I walk with you series consciously aimed to disturb the viewer’s gaze by presenting disincarnated and instrumentalized figures that sacrifice their identity for vanity, away from any fantasy of glitter and glam.
