Real Virtuality

In 2013, at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland, Valerio Vincenzo documented a “cover operation” in a region severely affected by the economic crisis. The local government had posters pasted in the windows of abandoned shops to create the illusion of “business as usual”. The artifice was successful only because the foreign delegations drove through the villages without stopping. The Real Virtuality series printed on Plexiglas recalls these artificial window displays and, presented outdoors, encouraged viewers to take time to distinguish the true from the fake in photography.
