Xiaoyi Chen

While in residence in Switzerland, Xiaoyi Chen was puzzled by erratic boulders spotted during a stroll in the Valais alpine forest. After the Rhône glacier retreated, these huge rocks ended up kilometers away from their initial location, as if teleported to the present landscape. The stranger… and while I blossomed all alone, the world slumbered installation moved these fragments of nature again, this time to the Vevey urban environment. Presented both in positive and negative, the large format images raised awareness about the worrying mutations of the Alpine landscape. The public had to use their smartphones’ color inversion tool to fully appreciate the environmental significance of the project.
