BAT SWITZERLAND
The BAT Switzerland Foundation is a public utility, non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting cultural and artistic projects, particularly in the field of photography. Over the years, it has awarded grants, presented prizes, and commissioned works, always with the goal of making quality art accessible to a wide audience. Since 1988, it has built, exhibited, and managed a reference collection of photographs featuring prestigious names such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Marc Riboud, and Jeanloup Sieff.
The auction of the collection, which took place in 2007 in New York, facilitated the establishment of a capital fund and the creation of an award dedicated to young Swiss photographic talents. To continue this spirit, it launched the Bon à Tirer project in 2020, a partnership with the Biennale Images Vevey, the Swiss Visual Arts Biennial, which has been promoting artistic risk-taking and accessibility to art for the greatest number of people for over a decade.
