The Tale of Adam Earl Gordons

Recipient of the Special Jury Prize from the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2017/2018, Antony Cairns based his project on the true story of Gordon Earl Adams who, while building a time machine in the early 20th century, mysteriously went missing, leaving behind around twenty albums of texts, diagrams and photographs. Based on these documents, the British artist constructed a fiction about the reappearance of the inventor, brought back to a dystopic London. Presented in a concrete basement similar to the one where the inventor supposedly vanished, Cairn’s project The Tale of Adam Earl Gordons is a reflection about the obsolescence of analog technology and explores the future of humankind in an all-digital society.
