David Favrod left Japan for Switzerland when he was just six months old. The photographer spent years working on this uprooting, staging scenes that reactivate Japanese cultural myths as well as stories from the war years told by his relatives. The Cardinal Points project, gave him the opportunity to return to Japan for the first time in 2014, in order to reclaim his family territory with a series of unique images of himself interacting with the setting in the port city of Kobe.
