Postcards from Europe 03/15

Since 2006, Eva Leitolf (Germany, 1966) has been examining European countries’ ways of handling migratory phenomena, and the European Union’s external border control. The artist uses both images and texts to test the narrative potential of a photograph once removed from its context. Her approach calls into question the notion that an image is self-sufficient and needs no further explanation about where it was shot. Displayed at Espace Images, her Postcards from Europe 03/15 project deliberately avoids sensationalism and thereby subtly questions the media coverage of refugee flows today.
