The circle of confusion
The circle of confusion
At the Vidy theater in Lausanne, The circle of confusion installation by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige represented an aerial view of Beirut split into 3000 adhesive pieces pasted on a large 12-m2 mirror. Visitors could take away any one of these pieces, each bearing the words Beirut does not exist on the reverse side. With time, the empty spaces left by the removed pieces revealed fragments of the mirror, bringing visitors to the core of the wounds of the Lebanese capital marked by decades of conflicts.
