Nadav Kander

With the Bodies, 6 Women, 1 Man series, internationally premiering at Espace Images, Nadav Kander brought nude photography back to the fore. While nudity has nearly vanished from exhibitions, it is omnipresent in cinema, advertising and on the Internet. Set against a dark background, his models covered with a thin layer of white make-up seemed to adopt the poses of classical paintings. Their pale bodies, their faces turned away from the lens, created a distance with the viewers while questioning canons of beauty in Western society.
