The Last Moment
The Last Moment
In his The Last Moment series, Simon Roberts uses images found in the press depicting crowd-gathering situations extensively covered by the media: Queen Elizabeth II on an official visit abroad, Lady Gaga out in public or a bull race in the streets of Pamplona. He carefully circles each camera spotted on the snapshots and obscures the rest. Presented in the public space, these constellations of contemporary voyeurs tell of the recent explosion of amateur photography resulting from the widespread use of smartphones, while questioning the irrepressible need to report any given event immediately on social networks.
