die Winter
Featured for the first time in public for Festival Images, the die Winter series is rooted in Stéphane Winter’s own story. This photographer of Korean origin was adopted at the age of one by an ordinary Swiss couple and started photographing his foster parents when he was fifteen. His funny and affectionate images, some staged, others shot on the spot, evoke life’s little everyday pleasures. By adopting a positive and quirky attitude to his adoption, his series and its accompanying publication encourage viewers to reconsider their views on the notion of a traditional family, and underline the role of photography in building family memories.
